After over 10 years of providing free email lists to the tobacco control movement, were closing the lists. When we started, lists were confusing and expensive to run, now there are free alternatives that offer more than we do. In particular, those services offer integrated document libraries, calendars, polls, digest versions of the mail, and much better spam filtering. Were recommending that administrators move their lists to Google Groups, though Yahoo Groups is a viable option as well. To be a list administrator with Google Groups, youll need a free account there, though your list subscribers wont need that. To get started, go to groups.google, sign in, and follow the steps to creating your own group. I recommend a name that includes your city or state and something related to tobacco control, for example smokefree.
