Indian Smokes is located in Western New York State on the Allegany Indian Reservation in Salamanca, New York. The Allegany Indian Reservation is located along the Allegheny River from the Pennsylvania border upriver to Vandalia, New York, and is located entirely within Cattaraugus County. The Seneca Nation of Indians has a total population of over 6,700 enrolled members and holds title to three reservations in New York, including the Allegany Indian Reservation. The Seneca tribe is part of the Iroquois family of Indian tribes, which consist of Seneca, Oneida, Mohawk, Onondaga, Tuscarora and the Cayuga Tribes.
